John Cage's knowledge of micology won him a Volkswagon Bus on Italian TV
contest shows-while touring with Merce Cunningham - and they finished
their tour in it, used it all over the country-then sold it to me after
hunting mushrooms on my land in upstate NY. I played class for Merce-
and did the marathon( Eric Sati) Vexations John produced in NYC- one 8
measure piece lasted 18 hours....and got stunning reviews.
So much for musrooms.He was perhaps the gentlest, wisest man I ever
worked with.- never made a cheap shot at anyone's expence.
