The Selmer C* is a very good all-around choice. Even better if you can
find an old pre-S80 version, the "Soloist" or slightly later one that does
not SAY "Soloist" but still has the arch-shaped, rather than square,
chamber. I use one of those for concert band, and also for second alto in
one big band, where it blends well with the lead guy's. The Meyer 5M is
not bad, either, a little less resistant, but I get better intonation on my
Mark VI with the Selmer. I have an Otto Link metal mouthpiece, too, if I
need a little more edge.

Actually, I believe Selmer has re-released the Soloist mouthpieces
recently. I guess, like with the Reference series saxes, they are starting
to realize they had a good thing in the first place!
