Probably art derives some of its force because it is *not* completely
analyzable by 'science' or 'hard evidence'. This is the point I was
getting at in relation to "nice dark sound". There must (perhaps may)
be something there, despite a lack of precision, something of sufficient
import that causes some of us to purchase our own tools in order to
experiment with sound qualities that cannot be defined precisely.

As with religion, some will say that this is "sloppy" thinking, others
will say that there are higher truths beyond mere logic, and yet others
will attempt to reconcile the two approaches. But it seems to me that
there is *something* there, even if a precise notation for it doesn't
exist.... yet.
