I heard David play the Zwillich concerto about 7 weeks ago with the
Memphis Symphony and it was wonderful. Very interesting piece and
effortless and sensitive playing!

I know this is late notice, but there is a concert tomorrow night in Los
Angeles that anybody and everybody should come to. :-)
The Idyllwild Arts Academy Orchestra is playing a free concert at the
Colburn
School of Perfoming Arts in downtown Los Angeles at the Zipper Hall. The
concert is at 8 PM
On this concert, there will be not one, but two clarinet concertos-
both being
played by David Shifrin.
The two concertos will be the Lalo Shifrin concerto for clarinet and
strings
and the other will be the Ellen Taafe Zwillich Concerto for clarinet and
large
chamber ensemble.
For those that don't mind a drive into the mountains, the concert will
be
repeated in Idyllwild on Saturday night.
The best part of it (for me) is that I'm getting to play in it as a
ringer on
the bass clarinet... For once, I'm listening to music without a set of
headphones on. <G>
