Yes. I confess to enjoying their performance so much that I purchased
4 different titles in the lobby, which is not normally my style.

Many jazz concerts rely on loudness and 'energy', and I go home with my
ears ringing. Not at this concert. Especially the sax tone --- it
was mic'd --- was (forgive the metaphor) liquid gold that shimmered
without cutting into my ear drums. Especially the 10-minute Theolonius
Monk encore... I never can remember the title, it's his most famous
composition.

Parts of the 'jazz cello solos' (entirely pizzicato, as if the cello was
a small bass) fell flat because the key shifted inapproriately (imo),
but other parts of the cello solos rivalled anything that I've heard Yo
Yo Mas do when playing "Crouching Tiger" or the "Appalachian" CD.

The drummer was effortless, no grimaces or flapping arms or spinning
sticks, but he got every different sound you can imagine out of his
instruments, loud or soft, and each of them belonged where it was and
nowhere else. I don't really understand where all his sound came from
because he didn't seem to be doing much sometimes. His accelerating
'choo-choo train' solo was the best I've ever heard. I believe that I
lurched forward in my seat when the 'train' stopped.

.....sorry for carrying on so much.....
