Subj: [kl] Key question
Date: Wed, 12 May 2004 11:49:23 -0400

I have a question about a piece of plastic on the two keys that the hole
covers, if that is the right term for them, above the bell.

It is about the operation of these two keys, above an additional key, that
are operated by the left, which there are the four keys that operate three
of these keys also, by the right.

I hope you were able to folllow that so far.

I have a R-13, Buffet, from 1970 and these two keys have a piece of plastic
on them, where the end of the keys goes ito the "lifter" part of the key.
There is a piece of plastic, between the two pieces, I assume, since I am
the original owner, this plastic has been here since 1970, as it probably
makes for a smoother operation of the keys.

The outside key, is now making a noise, from that plastic. Is this plastic
neccessary on the key for the operation? if it is not, is this something
that I can do, remove the screw that holds the key and remove the plastic.
Will I be able to get the key back together okay? Or do I need to take it
to a shop and have a new piece of plastic install?

Thanks for any help, as I hope someone who knows repairs can follow the
above okay.
