Thanks. I'd thought Condon, but John Chilton (eminent writer on jazz, and
fine trumpeter) and Wally Fawkes (excellent UK-based jazz clarinettist, for
those who don't know him), to whom I showed the original photos, both
immediately thought otherwise (' =8A and his hand's moving too fast for
Condon', added John Chilton). Looking again at the photos in Condon's We
Called it Music, Condon does seem to have a bit more hair in the centre of
his forehead than does the chap in the photo I posted. Tom Morgan (sometime
guitarist with Benny Goodman, Bunny Berigan etc.) was tentatively suggested
by someone who runs a classic jazz guitar web site (who also thought it
wasn't Eddie C.), but I haven't been able to find a photo of him for
comparison purposes.
