Dear Diane,

I just finished working on Beatriz Lockhart's Estampas Criollas (3Bb,
BC range to Eb) with three students, and it was the most fun I've had
on the job in a long time. The four movements are appealing and
accessible, and they're challenging without being too difficult. A
sure hit with an audience.

Jorge Montilla arranged these for the Caracas Clarinet Quartet, and if
you can get your hands on their CD entitled "Cuarteto de Clarinetes de
Caracas" - their first, I believe - you can hear a wonderful
performance of it. Howard Klug publishes them through Woodwindiana
(contact him at HDKlug@-----.

My students and I are also working on Michael Kibbe's trio called
Shtetl Tanzen, for Eb, Bb and bass (best to use a low-C bass for the
several low Ds that occur, but I'm doing an acceptable job of moving
those few notes to within the range of my low-Eb horn). This is also a
beautiful and accessible piece that is based on Klezmer tunes. Like
the Estampas, it is published by Woodwindiana. Perhaps Howard has
other offerings that might suit you; I just can't remember at present.

Best of luck to you in your search.

Anna
