I agree that younger students should be taught more theory. I was given clarinet lessons and not music lessons. I am now trying to teach myself the theory of chords, keys etc but find myself getting confused because clarinet is b-flat and all theory is based on C. I would like to take a theory class at the local college but I don't think I could handle sitting through "a whole note is four counts"etc. Does anyone know of a resourse that teaches music theory but leaves out the stuff obvious to someone who already knows how to play music.
