Here's a related question: Other than to make it an easier key to play in, what
purpose is served by the brief changes to 'A' clarinet in the score to
"Rhapsody in Blue"? I'm not convinced it's purely for the timbral differences.
The fingerings might be slightly awkward, but not impossible, and I don't
believe it goes below written low 'E'.
