Dan says: <<What I want to hear is objective, intelligent, rational,
well-though-out views and when I do, I'll backpedal until cows
come home.>>

Here is my objective, intelligent, rational, well thought out view.

I don't want to clobber a passage just for the sake of playing it on the
"right" clarinet.

If I can play this particular passage in the Bartok, with all the correct
notes, in the correct rhythm, and more evenly, on the A clarinet than on Bb
clarinet, am I not preserving Bartok's original musical ideas more acceptably? I
agree that there are "color" differences between Bb and A clarinet, but in this
case the need for evenness and fluency transcends the difference in color.

I rest my case.
