Minneapois and St. Paul are two major cities on opposite sides of the
Mississippi River in Minnesota. Their joint knickname is the "Twin
Cities", and often you see the name "Minneapolis-St.Paul". I don't
know the exact history, but when the area was first settled, the
population grew and split up into two 'sister' settlements. Each
settlement kept a separate name, and still does.
