Ed... You may be correct. My Vandoren reed history knowledge might be hazy.
I was going on what I was told by the store I acquired them from.

As I recall, the "Blue Box" packaging came out somewhere in the mid
1980's. I have some of the small purple plastic boxes that I bought in
the early 80's. I recall them changing to the same style in a purple
cardboard box shortly after.
