Hello Abe,
The short answer to what a CD-ROM is that it is a CD that contains
data. (ROM = Read Only Memory).
The CD-ROM is inserted in a computer CD drive and then accessed through the
file system. The Orchestral Musicians CD-ROMs work in both PC and Mac
computers. The parts have been prepared (by scanning I believe) using the
Adobe Acrobat page formatting program. The CD-ROMs include the Adobe
Acrobat reader program which would need to be installed on your computer if
you didn't have it already. Once this has been done the parts can be
printed with any decent printer.
