For anyone who might be interested, just wanted to share
this find with you. If any of you have this recording, my
father, Phil Olivella, plays clarinet with this 5 piece
dixieland band on all 18 tracks (1949-1950).

I was ecstatic to find this - didn't even know that any type
of recording had ever been made or released of this, let
alone that a CD was available! I so wish he could have lived
to see his material being released on CD. (This is the 4th
CD I have found so far - he did hundreds of recording dates,
in addition to playing in many bands & orchestras over the
decades, Jack Sterling radio show, CBS staff musician - Gary
Moore, Jimmy Dean, Ed Sullivan shows, etc.)

Received & played it already - quite awesome. Quality is
unbelievable considering how long ago it was recorded (on
acetate master discs!). These performances got recorded,
since as luck would have it, this legendary Greenwich
Village club would broadcast live over the 4 major radio
networks all over the country, & the broadcasts were
recorded & saved. Bless the small label that decided to
release it! It was just $9 - I would have paid $100 or more.

I remember my parents talking about Nick's all the time - I
have photos of them there, & newspaper clippings - one is an
article on my dad entitled, "Casanova of the Clarinet"! LOL
(He was quite a handsome italian devil!) My mother never let
him live that title down.... ;-)
