Someone on this list mentioned the St. Saens Tarantelle for Flute, A
Clarinet and Orchestra several weeks ago. I poked around card catalogs on
the Internet and found ONE manuscript of the piece. OCLC is so
strange. The next time I did the search I found six. Anyway, one finally
came to me via interlibrary loan and I finished the score last night. 497
measures. A beguiling melody. It is St. Saens' Opus 6, so he was just
getting started I suppose. One of his minor compositions but an important
addition to Clarinet literature in any case. After I've performed the
Karaoke World Premiere of this delightful piece under the usual modest
circumstances (and maybe even twist the arm of my flutist nephew, the KUSC
program host, to join me) I'll upload if for all you folks to enjoy. Watch
this space!
