Walter,

Well said!

Public school music education in America, in general, is in very bad shape.
Schools are now in the blue ribbon mode.....not much curricular integrity,
way to much emphasis on entertainment....not education. Don't get me wrong,
the world of entertainment is how most musicians make a living but using
entertainment as the primary method to teach music is a huge mistake.

I use Paul O. Harder's theory books with all of my secondary school
students. A great series of books and can be very effectively used as a
"learn at home" method for learning theory at any/all levels.
