I don't know the reason for the scheduling difference this year, but I =
do work at a college and can tell you that scheduling activities is a =
difficult proposition. Here where I work things are scheduled 18 months =
to two years in advance, if the scheduling party knows they want an =
event on certain dates. Space is at a premium and colleges can't afford =
to have space sit idle, so they rent it out as soon as requests come in. =
If the request doesn't come soon enough, well.....

I see that the OK Clarinet Symposium ( www.ouclari.net ) didn't quite
hit the weekend this year -- it's scheduled June 3-5, Thursday-Saturday.
Too bad, some of us REALLY need to keep our day jobs.
