I'm a bit MORE ready to close my mind when the signature IS Mozart's!
(I cannot STAND Mozart and hope I never have to play any of his stuff
again (Music to "The Magic Flute" and his other operas excepted). I
don't mind LISTENING to other players playing Mozart - in fact I'd LOVE
to listen to Dan, or Tony, or David N. or any number of people from this
list playing Mozart. (Not the least reason of which is they play it
better than I do! bahahaha)

Seriously, though, I just find other music more enjoyable to play,
personally. But at the same time, I'm not going to tell OTHER PEOPLE
not to play Mozart (besides, that WOULD be a losing battle, wouldn't
it?) The point I'm making here, obviously, is that we all have personal
preferences, and they have little or no bearing on what is considered
great music or not, a good part of the time.

I'm interested to hear a performance of Bear's "Flitter Critters" if you
plan on playing it any time soon, btw. If the music sounds like the
name, I would imagine it is quite intriguing to listen to. As for music
*I* want to play some time - either in performance or just for working
it up for fun (one day when I can finally live to practice and play
clarinet, rather than live to chase kids!), I'd LOVE to be able to play
the Arnold Bax sonata. Now, I'm SURE no one will confuse Arnold Bax with
Mozart. Or with Bear. But I like that Sonata and I want to play it.
Along with the Reger sonata...and both Brahms sonatas. Enough of what I
like to play - now that the entire list is asleep and/or bored to death.

Back to arguing about reeds or mouthpieces or religion or gay marriage
or bass clarinet sex or something that interests people...
