I start with cool water mild soap and a mouthpiece brush to get off the
gunk. THen I use a solution of sterisol and soak the mouthpiece for 10+
minutes which should kill off most things. The exterior is then buffed.
I then play it and get a feel for the positive and negative aspects of
the mouthpiece. The facing is measured and the interior is measured.
Then the fun begins...

How do those of you who either restore instruments or buy from Ebay put
mouthpieces into a condition in which you would want to play them (from
a hygiene point of view.)
Please take it as read that I know and understand that in most cases it
would be far better to simply throw it away and start again. Unless of
course anyone knows of a source of free mouthpieces!!!!!
