Kelly, You are in NYC, hop on the train down to Philly and take your horn to
Mark Jacobi or Mike Hammer in Philly, or go an hour further and take it to
Vince Marinelli in Wilmington, DE.

My husband and I take our horns to Vince (although my husband used to go to
Mark all the time, it's tough to get an appointment and Vince used to
apprentice with him). I had asked Vince to put a cap on the middle joint of
my horn, she was gettin' old and wobbly. Expecting it to come back with a
metal cap (it's been a while since I saw anything done on a horn like that),
imagine my surprise when it comes back looking like a new tenon..........and
what he did was basically use a mouthpiece and somehow fit that over the
tenon - I can't explain it, I'm not a techie, maybe someone else here can.
All I can tell you
is that it did NOT affect the tone in any way, or the weight, and it's
really a fabulous job! You would never know it's not the wood tenon the
horn came with.
