I had a new R-13 'Brannenized" a little more than a year ago. It plays
wonderfully. Other players that I respect who have played note the light and
even spring tension, likening it to clockwork. Clarinet technicians that I
respect, including Emilio Lyons here in Boston and Guy Chaddash in New York
who have played the instrument also praise the work, although both commented
that the lower joint large pads don't 'look' all that good. The instrument
needs a new middle tenon cork right now, and I'll have that done locally,
but I have had no reservations in recommending the Brannens to others who
have used them. I almost met Kelly on my last trip to New York a year ago,
but he was ill at the time. I've read enough of his posts here to respect
his opinion and lack of malice, but my experience was good.
