Subj: [kl] When the Brannens retire...

I have had both my 4 year old R-13 Greenline Bb and my 1969 R-13 A
overhauled by Bill and Linda Brannen and must say that the work was
terrific. I had only minor problems with their custom pads. Apparently,
the tone hole seats on my Greenline were very sharp - so sharp that they cut
the skin of the pads. Linda was quick to respond to my email and scheduled
a prompt appointment to fix the problem. They took care of all the shipping
charges as well.
As for when they retire, there are many great repair technicians to choose
from. In addition to the Brannens, I also go to Miles Davis (yes, that's
his name, and his shop is called Miles Ahead) in Louisville, KY. His work
is outstanding plus he is a terrific person to work with. His prices are
comparable to the Brannens but he uses Straubinger pads on the lower joint
as opposed to custom-made pads.
