You're right about the comeback. I think. too, that Keilwerth made Edgware saxes for Boosey in e sixties for a time, and the few I've seen are great old horns. And Couf made saxes for King at one point if I remember correctly, the Lemaire, which is funny because Lemaire is part of the SML name. Dolnet made stencils for other French makers, and they were simply Dolnets with a different name engraved on them. I do remember the Buffets, and they were an interesting beast.

The stencil idea never really disappeared, as Jupiter was making saxes for Leblanc with the Vito name for a long time, and Yanagisawa made a bunch of stencils until Leblanc made them their pro sax line. I had one, a it was built and felt like a Selmer Mark VI, called a "Whitehall".
