Why would these things be advantageous?

You're losing the ability to try different barrels.

A traditional clarinet already has a middle joint (that is,
tenon+socket), hence nothing is gained or lost there. "One piece"
usually means a design similar to Rossi's with no middle joint at all,
and hence a better location for the register key.

The above doesn't say anything about the other quality issues in a
clarinet, of course.
