Thanks to all who commented on my question. Much appreciated!

It looks like the clarinet that prompted the question would likely not have
plated keys then. The serial # dates it to 1961. I don't have the clarinet
to examine thus the question to the group. I knew there was a point in time
when the keys were not plated but couldn't remember exactly when.
