Russell V. Conjerti asks: Does anyone else use Dr Slick?
Lelia asks: "wonder what cork grease is made of" and is it safe to eat.
I have used Dr. Slick for a few years. The Doctor does not list all
ingrediants, but allows that it contains beeswax & olive oil.along with the
slipery elm bark. He has said on the BBS that it is safe to eat.
Yes, I have used it for chapstick. It works really well.
Works great on cork joints.
And it works really great for driving screws. I was building some saw
horses and needed to drive 3" #12 wood screws into pressure treated 2 by
lumber using a variable speed drill. Once I started lubing the screws with
Dr Slick (a dab on the tip and a quick rub with greasy fingers on the
threads) the screws practically flew into the pilot holes. Prior to that I
was stalling on some of the holes. I have used soap and plain beeswax in
the past. Dr. Slick works better.
