Lynn, your son plays very nicely! For the crappy sound quality my comp
speakers get, I truly enjoyed his playing, and he STILL had a nice
sound. I'd love to hear him in a couple of years. Pitch is most
impressive, given his age, etc. Also, his articulation and double
tonguing are to be noted! :)

I'd say, considering that he's of the sort that is getting a bit of that
'tude right now (pre-adolescence), try shorter, structured periods of
practice, with some sort of reward at the end. Also, let him choose
which competitions he wants to enter, as well as which places he wants
to solo, insofar as you can do so. I remember feeling that everyone
wanted a piece of me at that age, and that I sort of owed them something
because I could play, and then later resenting it and not wanting to
play at all.

This may not be quite the case with Bug, but, then you never know. It's
always worth it to see what motivates kids.
