I guess Gene doesn't carp and bitch about everything, just teachers. There
are many people in this country who have gotten a wonderful experience in
school. I would imagine that there are many people on this list who could
relate wonderful experiences from the schools.

The media certainly gets lots of mileage on education bashing. Are there
lousy teachers out there? Of course. Just like there are lousy people in any
and every profession. There are also MANY educators who work their asses off
daily and who devote endless energy and time to the good of students. I am
sorry Gene had bad experiences. Does that mean all teachers are bad? I would
think that most people realize that such broad generalizations are of
course, false. Maybe Gene should consider volunteering in his local schools
to help out.

I am also happy that Gene's grandchildren are so smart and advanced. I
personally know some children who have accomplished as much and believe it
or not, they go to (gasp) public school.

I only hope that maybe I can help to bring some reasonable viewpoint here.
