I will concede that there may be SOME benefits for the lower-IQ
student. However, the brighter student WILL NOT learn at the same pace,
since the material will be presented at a slower rate to accommodate the
slower child. Why do we continually trying to cram all students into the
same classroom, expecting the teacher to cope with the clearly impossible
situation? It is a misguided idea of "democracy" that everyone should
receive exactly the SAME education, even if it is a completely miserable
one. Grouping students of similar abilities and/or disabilities would
greatly improve the efficiency of the educational process, and better help
EACH child to achieve his or her MAXIMUM potential. Unfortunately, that is
not "politically correct," so in the meantime the children will have to
suffer from inadequate education.

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is TOO LOUD!
