Does anyone have a good suggestion for tuning
clarinets (particularly Buffet E11). Usually the
notes in my lower joint are sharp, but when I pull out
my barrel my upper joint notes go too flat to lip up.
When this happens I tune the lower joint by pulling
out between the joints until it is in tune after I
tune the upper joint with the barrel, but this tends
to make my tone airy. Can anybody please try to give
me a better way to tune.
Thanks,
Chris Ciarlariello

Try getting another mouthpiece. It can make a tremendous difference.
What do you play currently (reed, mp)?
