Christy - I have been following your posts, and figured you understood
special education and placement, etc. Until I read this....

WHY in the World would you ever THINK a parent would want a LABEL like
autism on their child's head?????? Do you know what a Stigma autism is?
Not only to the general public, but for Life???? Let's talk Rain Man, ok?
Because that is what people think autistic people are. Sorry, but to think
we parents are out for the money, that is just plain disgusting and I am
personally offended.

Maybe you Should have your son re-evaluated. If one doctor said he is
bipolar, who is to say that doctor is any more or less wrong than a doctor
who might say he has Asperger's? BTW Asperger children don't always have
high IQs. My son's falls into the average range. If you are incorrect
about that, you might be incorrect about other aspects of AS.

The LAST thing I would want for my son is sympathy. OR pity. That is just
disgusting. Please don't push the fact that bipolar isn't "respected" off
onto children who have disabilities that "are" (well, at least they are
starting to give it attention, the first 10 years of my son's life they
didn't) just to justify your own anger.
