Some of those kids you are putting in the "slow learner" category in
your lessons may simply not be understanding your teaching style and
if =
you are not teaching to their learning styles, they would probably do
far =
better with another teacher. You don't sound very flexible or
creative to me =
at all.

Christy, I'm talking about Public School Classes - nothing related to
Private Clarinet Instruction which I am
very flexible, very creative AND have an extremely low drop rate and
high lesson attendance record for the past 21 years that I have
taught. I also have students who travel over 120 miles each way for
lessons with me (from Long Island and Connecticut no less) , and I've
taught kids who were at the very bottom of their section and got up to
2nd chair before so your comment just doesn't fly. AND OF COURSE I
TEACH TO THE STUDENT'S LEARNING STYLE - ANYTHING LESS IS NOT TEACHING
THE STUDENT.

Other comment about the IQ - yes, IQ is just a number. And I used it
to demonstrate aptitude, not performance. There are slower students
who work really hard and quicker students who are lazy. Put an A
student with a D student and you may get the D student up to a C+ but
the A student will suffer for it.
