I quite agree. In my experience scientific research is almost always a
creative and imaginative activity, both in finding interesting ideas and
then still further in finding ways to articulate those ideas in a coherent
fashion. I'm sorry if you felt I was patronizing you---I didn't mean to at
all, I only wanted to clarify the background of the theory. And I have to
confess I was a bit perturbed by your suggestion that string theory might
have relevance to pitch perception... ;-)
