I understand the following suggestion by gkidder. Conversations on the
internet are a new invention, and obviously they get out of control in this wierd
way that no one can control. And there are always obsessive people trying to
get the last word, and, more importantly, there are alway very important topics
we need to air our views on. I don't know how this format will evolve. Will
we always have such eruptions?
But I don't want to see Sex, Politics, and Religion NOT discussed. I think
the world needs more discussion of these things; as a culture we are still very
ignorant about these things, in my opinion. So I am a bemused reader of this
great list, and clarinets, no, I mean fucking clarinets are still important
to me, and I know that they will remain the pricipal thread here. Back to the
Vito bass.......

by electronic means with total strangers, and have survived for 3/4 of a
century. Ham radio operators have these same problems, and have evolved
informal rules which have generally protected them. It is understood that
there are three subjects which are not discussed - religion, politics and
sex. Generally this works. As with any other group, there are and will be
some who chose to ignore these rules. They can be dealt with by "sending
them to Coventry" as the Brits might say - just refusing to acknowledge
their existence or communicate with them, at least on these subjects.
I think this could work here as well.>>>>
