Dave: There were a couple of posters who must have misunderstood my
posting
about mainstreaming.<<
>>In a band situation - let em all play together as that's what 2nd
and 3rd
parts are for. And of course IQ isn't musical talent.

2nd and 3rd parts are for the so-called "normal" kids in our band.
Not for
my kid. ;) Blows that theory, LOL. Do you want to be the one who
tells
little Ludwig or Gustav they gotta sit in the back?

BTW Didn't Abraham Lincoln go to school in a 1 room school house?
What did
they do back then? I am sure the geniuses of their day didn't
suffer.

Lynn, that's exactly why I wrote "of course IQ isn't musical talent".
If the kid can play the instrument, the kid gets a higher chair. That
doesn't matter if the kid is a rocket scientist or as dumb as a rock
in a pond.

That is my point. Put the ones who accel with others who do the same.
Give the kids who can't learn easily the special attention that they
need as well. Kids have varying personalities and quirks. Why the hell
would a gustav or ludwig be sitting in the back of the section???
("sincere apologies" to the religious right who may be offended by the
word Hell). And if the child can't behave in a learning situation,
there's always home schooling.
