This is turning into a wonderful justification for homeschooling. We
homeschooled our deaf son because he was too deaf for hearing schools (With
all their glorious mainstreaming) and to hearing for a school fo rthe deaf
(with their physical and cultural adaptations)

I can still remember the first time I heard a loud and unabashed wailing
coming from the bathroom one night. It was my deaf son, singing in the
shower. My wife and I were rolling on the floor, rejoicing in another
stereotype blown away!
