Hello
I am playing a lovely trio by Milhaud, Suite=20
d'apr=E9s Corrette, for oboe, clarinet and bassoon.=20
I have a question, though, about carrying sharps=20
through the bar in the first movement. I hope=20
that someone who has performed this will have an=20
answer.
In bar 10 (and similar places), a low A at the=20
beginning of a measure is marked as A shar). At=20
the end of the measure, there is an unmarked A an=20
octave higher. It sounds like this should be an A=20
natural, in other words, that the sharp should=20
not carry through the measure to the A in a=20
different octave. (Similar issues in bar 14.)
There are other places in the suite where=20
accidentals occur in different octaves within a=20
bar and both are marked. This seems to confirm my=20
judgment about this.
Has anyone played this piece? If so, what did=20
you play in the first movement (at the end of=20
measures 10, 14, 26 and 30), A natural or A sharp?
