Music for the Young by Tchaikovsky, ten untitled songs for children for
wind quintet are now available for download and your playing
pleasure. Certainly not giant works by the master, but in the right place
and time with the right group of kids they would be delightful to
perform. Seven out of ten or thereabouts have ticky-tack parts by all
instruments except the solo, but the solo instrument moves
around. Originally composed for other instruments, undoubtedly. Grove
says there are 15 songs total, with words (in Russian,of course) for
piano. These 10 are probably from that collection.
