And I forgot to mention: a big improvement in both tone AND intonation
occurred when I replaced the already non-original barrel with a plastic
Selmer 1400 barrel! The large bore of that barrel apparently matches the
rest of the instrument well. Once I found that it worked, I bought one
with the brushed finish so it would match better cosmetically.
