If Walter wants to put his personal info, and that of his entire family on an
eBay Webpage - than that is fine with me - go for it.

Walter suggested that everybody should do so. That's bad advice. We have
young kids - high school and college students, adult novices, people who
don't want to share their private info, etc.

The discussion is NOT about websites. It is about placing personal
information on an eBay Auction Webpage. eBay FROWNS upon this. eBay
doesn't want people to do this. (eBay has reasons - some self-serving as
well).

It is against eBay Rules to use an email address as a eBay account name -
to use a derivative thereof is a technical violation, too. ex: Most of the
Paypal account names are tied to the actual email address of an eBay user.
Paypal credit card fraud is happening a lot these days because people so
freely VOLUNTEER info - when it serves no purpose.

If you want to build a website for your husband & disclose personal
information - the world is your oyster.

The subject here was explicitly providing personal information on an eBay
webpage - to suggest that others do this is FOLLY !

<<I see nothing wrong with putting as much information as you can think of
on the auction page. This is why we even put measurements (even though they
are also relative, as everyone's tools are even different!) and other
things. I tell people to email me if they have questions, because maybe I
might leave something out that I didn't think of. I don't have the memory
of a 20 year old anymore, lol. But as for personal info - sometimes, in the
professional world, in order to gain a more wide reputation you must put
forth to the public.>>
