I'm not sure I follow you here Mark. My take on what Walter is saying
is, simply put, that if a person is honest, they will have no need to
hide direct contact information, and they will have no need to hide
behind multiple "handles" or whatever you call them.

I certainly do not think Walter means that, for example, single women
living alone should post their address for all and sundry to read &
stalk! I have done business with & communicated with Walter for some
time over several years. He is an intelligent man with not only a great
deal of knowledge of clarinet mouthpieces and the clarinet mechanism and
intricacies of manufacture; he also is a man of good, common sense.
IMO, what I believe Walter is calling for is simply straightforward
honesty on the part of people who are selling things. I can agree with
that.

If someone is straightforward and honest with me when I contact them to
purchase an item (as Walter and Sue BOTH were - in fact Sue was willing
to take two checks over two months for the clarinet I bought! YAY Sue!)
then I find doing business with them a pleasure, and I will recommend
them to people. Another person I bought from - and this time, it was on
e-bay, though NOT a large item - was mike marmer (I don't know if it was
his real name). I bought a box of reeds. I got what I paid for, and
Mr. Marmer is an honest seller, if he does do a bit of volume. I do NOT
know him personally, but I've seen him on this lis and I would say that
if you buy reeds from him, you will get what you order. I received the
information I needed to pay for the reeds and I did so.

But reeds are NOT a large item, as is a clarinet, and I do feel, just as
a personal point of view, that I would rather not buy from someone who
is unwilling to let me know their real name so I can check them out with
the Better Business Bureau, etc. if I were to so desire (don't worry
Walter, Sue - I didn't feel the need in your case! The FBI and CIA said
you were clean and that was enough for me! *G*)
