Not really, Don Alfonso! IMHO, the clarinet parts written for opera
music are some of the neatest written! I'd LOVE to play in an opera
orchestra one day! It would be so cool! The more difficult the music
the better! Bring on Mozart, Verdi, Rossini (a personal favorite), the
lot of them! I prefer the instrumental music of operas to the actual
singing, to be honest, though I LOVE the melodramatic, almost
soap-operatic story lines!

I think, to add another log to the fire, that's what I like about film
music as well. The music defines the film so well, and the clarinet &
other instruments are taxed to their limits when the composer really
knows how to write for them! I especially like the film music John
Williams, Danny Elfman, James Newton Howard and Alex North, to name a
few, have written!
