Walter (and anyone else who has experience with this)

What IS the range you've seen of lengths in bass clarinet mouthpieces? I
know how to interpret the lengths of Bb (soprano) facings, but I really
have no idea what to expect from a 44 length in a bass mouthpiece, or,
since you say it's short, what a long curve would be. And where does a
1.8x tip opening fall in the available ranges?

On a tangential subject, do the same differences exist among German,
Viennese and French/American facings/reeds on bass as exist on soprano?
I've never read any discussion here about Oeler bass clarinets or
related equipment.

A recent experience playing bass in a complete Nutcracker (I'd never
played anything but the Suite before) has piqued my interest in bass
facings.
