Tonight I was thinking of Dan. No, not in a suggestive way, (I don't
want to
start those kinds of discussions again!)

I was called in to a local youth orchestra to coach the wind section
this
evening. One of the pieces I was coaching was the 3rd movement Adagio
from
the Gran Partitta. We were rehearsing some other things first. Shortly
before we were to go to the Mozart, I looked around the room at the
pairs of
woodwinds and asked if there were any additional players showing up
(wondering about the absence of the basset horns). I was told that this
was
it. I wondered aloud how they were going to do it, missing all of the
basset
horn solos. The flutists informed me that the parts had been transcribed
for
flute!!
