According to the newest repair god, lanolin is bad for your clarinet. I =
have removed it from my home-brewed cork grease along with the beeswax =
that I used to help thicken it up.

Pure anhydrous lanolin (which is a thick grease) works well as a cork
grease. You can buy a 1-lb jar of USP anhydrous lanolin at most
pharmacies, and in addition to being safe (suitable for medicinal
purposes), you will also spend less money over the long run. Those
$1.49 tubes add up after awhile.
