I have to say that - in the main - BBC English is getting a long way
from RP. BBC Radio 3 and 4 are better - and I guess the World Service is
too - but standard television is the home far too often of the lazy
speakers.

Reith is no doubt spinning at high speed in his grave.

I think it is better to speak of RP (Received Pronounciation) because
the
BBC-English as introduced by Lord Reith is not any longer identical to
RP.
