A very nice book......history from the beginning. Might be interesting for
those following the language thread. Christian is an Englishman......living,
teaching and writing in America.

David Christian is a history professor at San Diego State University. His
previous books include "Living Water: Vodka and Russian Society on the Eve
of Emancipation," "Imperial and Soviet Russia: Power, Privilege and the
Challenge of Modernity," and "A History of Russia, Central Asia and
Mongolia, vol. 1"

Description
Ten years ago, David Christian of San Diego State University argued that his
colleagues should reverse the trend toward ever-finer specialization and
start thinking big. He wrote an essay called "The Case for Big History," and
then he took his own advice. He's now produced "Maps of Time: An
Introduction to Big History" which takes us from the Big Bang to now --
