I'm not taking sides in this debate, but here's an experiment that was
described to my class during a college lecture: (this thread is
off-topic, perhaps I'll be the one who finally gets blasted for not
staying on-topic?)

Rat populations were put in cages with varying population densities and
with varying ratios of male to female. The amount of homosexual
behavior (according to the experimental write-up) increased when (a)
population density increased, and (b) the ratio of sexes was especially
far removed from 1:1.

What does this suggest? It suggests that external forces control part
of our behavior. (big duh! but it's easy to lose track of this during
a heated debate)
