How we spell and pronounce words is not central. Important, but not
central. But Americans use words in different ways - neat for example. I
could go on for hours.... I also feel that with American there are ways
in which whole spectra of meaning are covered by one word whereas we
English would use a variety. It was the lack of vocabulary that annoyed
me so much with the young woman in my block at university.

Incidentally if you want to refer to two cents then don't forget it is 2
cents - or were you only intending to refer to one fiftieth of one cent?

There is no difference between Brit's and American's English. Language
is not based entirely on spelling and pronunciation. Language is based
on the logic of its grammar and that is what we share. My .02 cents.
